Sample tests with different rpm circuits (capacitive vs inductive)

SUZUKI Bandit 600. Wasted Spark ignition (TCI).

Inductive circuit on Primary cable.
The main purpose of our inductive pickup is to be able to read ignition on the new on-spark coils.
Some failures are present at the end of the test when engine decelerates and there are less current on the primary cable, but less important that in the next case.

Inductive circuit on HV (spark) cable.
Although this is not the main purpose of this inductive pickup, most of them are used to read ignition on the HV (spark) cable, so it can be done in certain cases.
Here you can see how the spark current is high while the engine accelerates and then the inductive pickup reads it.
And later, when engine decelerates ignition current is very low, and the inductive pickup is unable to read it until iddle rpm.
This is not an issue with SportDyno software because the program only uses the ignition channel while the engine accelerates to calculate the ratio value, thus is no matter if there are no signal when engine decelerates.

Capacitive clamp SCR circuit.
Here is used a different version of the capacitive circuit (not the same as the one inside the SP1 box). You can see how the SCR is fired in quite all sparks (only little failures).
Usually capacitive method gives an aceptable result. We recommend to use always that can be done the capacitive method. Only in case of on-spark coils is better to use inductive method.

Car engine. Wasted Spark ignition (TCI).

Inductive circuit on Primary cable.
Good graph, only a little failure detected.

Inductive circuit on HV (spark) cable.
In this case. the ignition graph is quite bad, but this is not the main purpose of our inductive pickup. If you get a curve like this, you will better to use the primary cable.

Capacitive clamp SCR circuit.
Again, capacitive method gives an aceptable result. We recommend to use always that can be done the capacitive method. Only in case of on-spark coils is better to use inductive method.

Distributor engine (old IBIZA 1500 engine).

Inductive circuit on HV cable.
This is only an example about distributors engines. Only little failures detected.
